Then I add the dry to the wet and beat for 2 mins. using a hand mixer at medium speed. If using a stand mixer, I would mix at the lowest speed for 2 mins. or less.

It is invaluable to me to not have powdered sugar everywhere and to spend my time decorating instead of making icing. Plus, the 28 pound bucket only costs about $30 - I certainly can't make it for that.

Paid $25 for the buttercream and $17 for the bettercream. They did offer to sell me boxes, pads, etc. but at the time I couldn't afford to buy that many in bulk.

The tub I got for $17.86 was the "whipped cream" version. I understand there is an actual butter cream version, which is more expensive.

WEBJul 13, 2006 · The woman on the phone said they sell it in 15 pound buckets for like $22. I did the math and that's even cheaper than making 15 pounds of buttercream at home. Plus the Rich's website says it covers twice as many cakes as buttercream, pound for pound. So I guess that means it's more like having 30 pounds of buttercream.

WEBAug 24, 2006 · It's around 26 dollars for 28lbs. That is the only size of spread 'n' fill/buttercream in white. Sam's sells smaller buckets of COLORED buttercream for 9 dollars and some change. I don't think that the colored ones are fair to use if you are judging taste....Some of the colors (black, hot pink...) are nasty!

WEBJan 16, 2006 · At my Sam's Club the powdered sugar just says sugar in the ingredients list and so I won't buy it, no matter the price. Cane sugar is more expensive and responds differently (better) to heating and cooling. Beet sugar is cheap and often needs more cornstarch added to it during processing to keep it from clumping.
