You can drive through the Refuge but it's not meant to be a race. It offers some beautiful landscapes to enjoy and there are viewing platforms scattered throughout. I was hoping to see more animals b… Full review by John F

The driving tour is seven miles long. It is a narrow one-way gravel road that crosses a couple of narrow bridges. The whole point is to drive slowly and enjoy the view. There are numerous places to pull over so you can get out. I would allow yourself at the very least an hour but there is no reason to hurry. Some parts of the road are more like a causeway between ponds so whoever is driving needs to pay attention. I hope this helps.
