Morning everyone, we have chartered a four-cabin cat for my friend's birthday in July. Super excited as it's our first visit to the Caribbean! She would like to visit The Baths on her birthday, but I hear it can be hard to get BACK into the dinghy without a ladder? Is that true? Do you know if the Moorings offer dinghy ladders?
A:
We just got back from our yacht trip, and the Baths was my favorite excursion! We were on Sea’s the Day, and our dinghy definitely had a ladder. Very easy.
Hi everyone - we are excited about our upcoming charter with Moorings with our family of 5. Can anyone recommend the best charter from St. Thomas (Red Hook) to the Moorings Port(Road Town Tortola)? Does a private charter go directly to the Moorings Port? We are building quotes with a few private charters as the public ferry is booked and I read not so great stories of the crowds. Thank you for your help!

We used private charter for transport from Red Hook to the Moorings. Well worth it. They take care of all the customs paperwork, stop at immigration, then get you to the Moorings launch. Chillout Charters is who we used. They were fantastic. Roundtrip is about $700/per couple, but no lines and direct route. This was mid-May of 2024.
We are looking at booking a 1 week charter on Moorings in the BVI with a Skipper and a Cook. Total price is over $35,000 and they are suggesting gratuities of 15 to 20%. Are people really tipping a two person crew $7,000 for a week?
A:
No, we didn’t have a captain only a cook. She was great, the rest, cat conditioning, service at The Mooring, way below par. I wouldn’t do it again.
