Very tight road If your a seasoned driver it should be no problem also as a tourist in Trinidad they drive on the opposite side of the road so that takes some getting use to . Would advise getting a cab the hotel drivers over charge and charge you say the US dollar rate which is wrong but it is what it is. This time of year is rainy season so the area going up to Maracas in the mountains are susceptible to land slides the drivers will let you know if it's ok to head up that way I was just there 2 weeks ago the did shut the road down but it was cleared and folks were able to get to the beach
can you tell me about hotel prices around that beach

It's not expensive, I would compare it to a motel from about 40 years ago. Bare bones. But it's right on the beach basically. You just cross the street. But it is run down. I stayed at the Hilton in POS and that was 3 stars at best. This place would be 1 star. Your there only because of the beach only, it is run down.
