Very cool art museum. Kind of fills in the blanks between the Prado and the Queen Sophia. Nice Impressionist presence, a beautiful little Bernini, a stunning Rothko. Very manageable in two hours. Full review by multi2dinous

Supreme quality of work -particularly Renaissance. A more manageable size than the Prado and fewer visitors so an altogether more relaxing experience. And an excellent cafeteria. Full review by Ian B

How far in advance should I purchase museum tickets?
A:
We queued on the day (a Saturday) - not many ahead of us- it took about 10 minutes.

Is there a discount for seniors?
A:
Yes, but you have to provide an EU passport ot ID. Tourists over 65 from elsewhere do not get the discount.

No need to do anything prior to arrival - we just turned up. There were no huge queues and anyone can get in for free. Well worth a visit - but the 4 hours free isn't really long enough to do …
