An atmospheric river from the north that made its first push into the Bay Area over the weekend got its second wind Monday night, “over-performing” the National Weather Service’s expectations, the agency said. The storm, which is “stronger than expected,” caused minor to moderate flooding in some areas.

The NWS says excessive rainfall is expected to cause flooding along the Russian River, affecting roadways and agricultural land.

Heavy Sierra snow, steady rain and gusty winds are expected Tuesday in Northern California as the result of an atmospheric river. The Tuesday morning commute will be wet and breezy across the region.
