Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed his condolences, calling Kunal’s death 'an irreparable loss to society'

Retired IPS officer and Mahavir Mandir founder Acharya Kishore Kunal, credited with transforming Bihar's religious landscape and promoting social welfare, passed away at 74 following a cardiac arrest in Patna.

Patna, Retired IPS officer Acharya Kishore Kunal died of cardiac arrest in Patna on Sunday, his family said. An IPS officer of the 1972 batch, he was the chief of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trust and founder secretary of Patna's Mahavir Mandir Trust, which runs several hospitals in the state.

He was also a Hindi and Sanskrit scholar, and set up several hospitals that provide treatment to the poor at subsidised rates.
