Christmastime is … not here. It's over, y'all. Time to undeck the halls and get rid of that bone-dry Christmas tree. The big picture: Local governments have different procedures for disposing of your tree.

The Christmas tree collection for 2025 will run through January 17th in the city of La Crosse. The city asks that you please remove tinsel, ornaments, and tree bags, and set your tree out on the boulevard by 7:00 AM.

Residents also have the option of taking their trees either to the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center at 130 Magee Ave. or the Scale House at 101 Harborview Ave. The Scale House is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, while the recycling center is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

I must admit I always get sad when I drive past Christmas tree lots right before and after the holiday. The trees, no matter how big and beautiful or small and Charlie Brown-like, look so lonely. They were chopped down,

Those who haven’t yet disposed of their Christmas trees can soon get them collected by Wiltshire Council if they have signed up for garden waste collections. Residents who are signed up can leave their real tree next to their green bins on the first scheduled collection of the month.

For the elephants and others at the Berlin Zoo, it's finally time to unwrap their Christmas presents. Trees that didn't find a home this festive season were given to some of the animals on Friday in what has become an annual event.
