Dennis Allen has a great deal of admiration for Derek Car r, and the former Saints head coach had nothing but words of respect for the former Saints starting quarterback following news of his retirement on Saturday. Allen was also the head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2014, Carr's rookie season.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons. Carr had been dealing with a shoulder injury that would require surgery and put his 2025 season in doubt.

Dennis Allen was head coach of the Raiders when Oakland drafted Carr. Allen was also the head coach of the Saints when they signed Carr to a multi-year contract in 2023. He was (finally) fired by New Orleans seven games into last season. This offseason, Allen was hired to be the defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears.
