The Federal Trade Commission’s changes required businesses to disclose when free trials or other promotional offers will end and let customers cancel recurring subscriptions as easily as they started them.

The FTC’s "click-to-cancel" rule would have required companies to make canceling a subscription as simple as signing up. But a federal appeals court blocked the policy days before it could take effect.

The Federal Trade Commission’s “click-to-cancel” rule was adopted in October and would have required companies to disclose when a free trial ended and to make it just as easy to cancel as it is to sign up for a service, The Associated Press reported.
