King Charles will travel to Auschwitz later this month to attend an event marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. The commemoration in Poland on 27 January will be the King's first overseas trip this year.

King Charles is set to visit Auschwitz on Jan. 27, to mark 80 years since the liberation of the concentration camp. The trip will be the monarch's fifth to Poland

King Charles will become the first British monarch to visit Auschwitz when he travels to the former Nazi concentration camp later this month, he told guests at a memorial event yesterday. He revealed to Holocaust survivor Manfred Goldberg, 94: “I feel I must for the 80th anniversary. It’s so important.”

King Charles will travel to Poland to join other dignitaries and Holocaust survivors invited to a service commemorating the milestone.
