LSU All-American left-hander Kade Anderson was selected No. 3 overall Sunday night in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Anderson, a sophomore from Madisonville, La., is the fourth LSU player in the last four seasons to be among the Top 5 overall MLB Draft selections.

The 2025 Major League Baseball Draft began Sunday night at the Coca-Cola Roxy as part of Atlanta hosting the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. Five players from Georgia high schools and colleges heard their names called on Day 1.

The Detroit Tigers leaned into selecting late-rising prospects as part of their haul in Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft on Sunday. The Tigers began the night picking shortstop Jordan Yost with the No. 24 pick, followed by catcher Michael Oliveto 34th overall, righty Malachi Witherspoon in the second round and lefty Ben Jacobs in the third round.
