A Peoria man pled guilty to animal cruelty charges Thursday, receiving a two-year prison sentence for killing his girlfriend's cat last October. Paul E. Cox, 34, had been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals last November after he allegedly killed his girlfriend's cat at her apartment at Lexington Hills Apartments in Peoria.

Robert Allen Lee was first reported to Peoria police in 2021. While in custody, he called his wife to ask her to intimidate the victim, MCAO said.

Demarquis D. Turner, 41, received three 14-year sentences – to be served consecutively – for criminal sexual assault after he raped one adult woman and two underage girls in three separate incidents between 2004-2016. Circuit Judge Katherine Gorman presided over the proceedings Wednesday and handed down the long sentence.

Robert Lee will serve three consecutive life sentences for the crimes.
