The latest details are in with regard to Google‘s case against Epic over the Play Store, and Judge Donato has ruled that Google must allow rival third-party app stores to exist within it. This case has been ongoing for over a few years now with the original lawsuit brought by Epic back in 2020.

U.S. District Judge James Donato issued the injunction after “Fortnite” maker Epic Games convinced a jury that Google illegally monopolized app distribution and in-app payments on Android devices. Google, a unit of Alphabet, contends that complying with the order would harm the company and has filed an appeal.

In Epic Games’ lawsuit against Google, a federal jury had unanimously decided last year that the Google Play Store and the Google Play Billing service were an illegal monopoly.
