Thousands of Black residents in at least 19 other states have received racist messages in the past few days, with some saying the person was "selected to pick cotton," or to become "a slave."

Racist text messages were sent to scores of Black people the day after the election telling them they had been “selected” to pick cotton “at the nearest plantation.”

Lower Merion and Upper Darby school districts are warning parents about racist text messages received by a number of their students.

Federal authorities are looking into the source of racist mass text messages sent to Black people – including children – across America this week.

A Jefferson County Public Schools middle school student received one of the racially charged texts, according to the Kentucky Center for School Safety executive director. Local police in several states and the FBI are investigating.
