As expected, the 11 a.m. advisory has updated to show that Tropical Storm Chantal has weakened into a Tropical Depression.

Rains from the outer bands of Tropical Storm Chantal could dump as far west from the coast as Charlotte, a National Weather Service meteorologist said Saturday. “Shower chances increase after daybreak Sunday,” NWS meteorologist Chris Horne said about the Charlotte area.

Tropical storm warnings were issued for portions of the two Carolinas, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
