The school board on Monday evening approved a leave of absence for board member Amy Word, who was arrested last month. The vote was 6-0. Word will not be paid during her leave.

School board member David Hollingsworth also said he believed Word should be called on to step down. "We have no room on the board for anyone who breaks the law," he said.
