As the 49ers prepare for the offseason, Brock Purdy is the number one priority, and CBS Broadcaster Jim Nantz endorses an extension ASAP.

Lynch made it clear the 49ers are fully committed to keeping Brock Purdy, who is eligible for a contract extension immediately. Purdy had 3,864 passing yards and 20 touchdowns in 2024, but San Francisco missed the playoffs this year after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last season.

All signs point toward the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy working out a long-term contract extension this offseason. There’s always a chance something doesn’t get done, but based on how 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch spoke about Purdy during their end-of-season press conference it sounds like both are ready to do what it takes to ensure Purdy becomes a foundational building block of their offense moving forward.

San Francisco is in the process of remodeling its coaching staff, while the Niners will in a couple of months have to navigate the challenges of free agency amid a backdrop of contract negotiations with Brock Purdy that may come to define the next few years.
