In November, the town of Pontypridd was one of many areas in Wales affected by extreme flooding during Storm Bert which swept across the UK. Just weeks later, Storm Darragh caused even more damage.
The storm brought 100 mile-per-hour winds to the island and also battered Scotland and northern England. Britain’s weather office issued a red warning, its highest level of alert.
Storm Darragh ripped through Wales in December 2024, with heavy rainfall and winds up to 93mph (150km/h) leaving about 95,000 homes without power.
