The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists set its Doomsday Clock at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest the timepiece has ever been to symbolic disaster.

For almost all of its history, the clock has moved in 60-second increments. In 2017 it was moved to two-and-a-half minutes to midnight, and then in 2020 it was moved to 100 seconds.

The clock – a reflection of how close to destruction humanity is, and set by experts and scientists – moved 10 seconds forward, to 90 seconds to midnight.
