Work on installing an €8 million signalling system to control operations in Kent Station, Cork and on approaching lines, is due to get underway later this month.

Funding has been allocated to upgrade the car park at Charleville train station, according to the Minister for Special Education & Inclusion and Cork North-West TD Michael Moynihan.

The proposed upgrade of Kent station and work on the Cork-Dublin railway line between Portlaoise and Hazelhatch that will shave 15 minutes off travel times, will make rail travel more attractive .
