Google is working on a fix for a buggy Wear OS 5 update. The company says it paused the OTA update rollout on September 26th after people, including my colleague Richard Lawler, reported their Pixel Watch 1 and 2 devices were stuck on a blank screen due to the update.

Google does offer a couple of potential fixes for the blank screen issue, but one involves resetting your watch to factory settings.

Google has said that it's still in the process of fixing the broken Wear OS 5 update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2.

As the best Android smartwatches battle to bring Android's Wear OS 5 update to older generations of devices, mixed fortunes mean a rollout for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 could be close at hand. Not so for older Pixel Watch owners, who could have a long wait in store.

Google is currently fixing the Wear OS 5 update and will rollout to the Pixel Watch series smartwatches in the coming weeks.
