American flags are back to full-staff at the U.S. Capitol in honor of Donald Trump's inauguration, breaking the U.S. flag code's guidelines for mourning the death of Jimmy Carter

Jason Carter says it didn’t bother him that U.S. flags were raised for President Donald Trump‘s inauguration after they were lowered in honor of his late grandfather, former President Jimmy Carter. Trump’s move to raise the flags was unusual and went against the customs honoring recently deceased former presidents.

Flags have flown at half-staff since the death of former President Jimmy Carter on Dec. 29. The official mourning period concludes Monday.
