The Detroit Tigers announced their 26-man roster for the American League Division Series on Saturday morning, ahead of Game 1 against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The Tigers 26-man American League Division Series roster is as follows:

Mize, the Tigers’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft, missed most of the last two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery but returned to make 20 starts in 2024. He went 2-6 with a 4.49 ERA in 102 1/3 innings, striking out 78 and walking 29.

The Houston Astros left three-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander off the roster for their AL Wild Card Series against Detroit but did include injured slugger Yordan Alvarez

A.J. Hinch led Houston to a championship in 2017, and the last time he managed a postseason game it was the Astros’ loss in Game 7 of the 2019 World Series. The following January he was suspended for a year by Major League Baseball and fired the same day for his role in Houston’s sign-stealing scandal.
