PONTIAN: The Government will introduce an insurance policy to cover more than 5.9 million Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) recipients nationwide from January next year.

PONTIAN: About two million of the 7.9 million 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) recipients do not have a bank account, said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

According to KPRU calculations, the total BR1M allocation after adding new categories and increasing BR1M will hit RM11.7 billion. This amount is the same as reducing the GST by 1.5 percent!

Based on the BR1M payment this year, households earning less than RM3,000 received RM1,200 in BR1M payment while households earning between RM3,000 and RM4,000 received RM900 each.

What then is BR1M? To me, it is just a toy politicians play with using other people’s money. If it helps them politically, fine, if not, it is really not their money.
