James Moonan, a former student at Pierce middle school in Milton and now a sixth-grade math teacher there, received a Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award and a $25,000 prize.

The Milton school district has been offering the Calculus Project since the 2014-15 school year. Milton school officials did not immediately respond to request for comment.
