The $11.4 million recovery is related to a consent judgment that resolves litigation at more than 40 Plaza Azteca Mexican restaurants owned by Ruben Leon in seven states.

Plaza Azteca will also pay $625,000 in civil money penalties due to the repeated and willful nature of the violations as part of the judgment covering March 10, 2016, to Sept. 21, 2021.

The Plaza Azteca chain began incorporating robot servers within its restaurants about eight months ago. Bella joined the team at the Williamsburg establishment roughly a month ago after a trial run.
