The idea of the original contest was to celebrate National Poetry Month, which is April. But this year’s contest will also celebrate another April tradition: Squirrel Week.

All levels of writers are encouraged to enter, even beginners. The theme for the contest is: “An Open Door.” Poems must be original to the author and no longer than 40 lines.
