The Port of Seattle as a public entity was created in 1911, and it took decades for them to purchase and gain control of what had been railroad and steamship company-owned docks on Elliott Bay.

The Port of Seattle said they expect more than 800,000 passengers and 275 ship calls this cruise season. Some of those passengers tell KOMO News they came early to explore what Seattle has to offer.
