Heartline was on Riverside Drive in Danville for 61 years. Owner Debra Layne closed up shop there on December 31. Just over three months later, she's found a new spot on South Boston Road.

Heart House, which opened in 1992, and Heartline, open since 1982, have four paid staff members, an annual budget of $150,000, more than 40 volunteers and a 10-member board of directors.

Heartline’s rates for a one-way trip start at $35 for an ambulatory person or $55 for someone who uses a wheelchair. In addition, a client pays a per-mile charge between $2.75 and $3.25.
