Bryant led a successful campaign to repeal an ordinance in Florida’s Miami-Dade County that would have prohibited discrimination against gay people.

Bryant was perhaps most well-known for her 1977 “Save Our Children” campaign that painted gays and lesbians as a threat to the country’s youth.

"Paper Roses" singer Anita Bryant was largely known for her conservative beliefs and as the spokesperson for Florida oranges in the early '70s.
