DC Studios’ new Superman movie feels like a wild comic book that’s been brought to life. For years, Warner Bros. Discovery has been playing a desperate game of catchup in hopes of recreating the success that Marvel achieved with its live action comics adaptations.

James Gunn's "Superman" film is Warner Bros.' attempt to reinvigorate a DC Comics film universe that has been a mixed bag over the past decade. The intrigue: The movie is a crowd pleaser that gives stans of the franchise plenty of moments to geek out over.

The movie marks the first DC film entry for Gunn since he took over the reins of Warner Bros’ superhero label with producer Peter Safran in October 2022. Other upcoming DC Studios projects include HBO’s Green Lantern series Lanterns and a Supergirl movie, due out in 2026.
