Meta cuts EU ad-free subscription price by 40% for Facebook and Instagram
On Tuesday, Meta announced that it is reducing the price of a monthly subscription for its ad-free tier in the EU by 40 percent, from €9.99 to €5.99 on the web and from €12.99 to €7.99 on iOS and Android. Each additional Facebook or Instagram account will be charged €4 on the web and €5 on iOS and Android.

Users of Facebook and Instagram in Europe who access the social media sites for free will soon have the option for less personalized advertising, parent company Meta announced. For about a year, European users of the social media platforms have been able to pay for an ad-free subscription option.

Under pressure by EU regulators, Meta said Tuesday it was offering non-paying users of its Facebook and Instagram services in the bloc the ability to do so with less targeted ads, as well as cutting its subscription rates.
