Michigan has agreed to a multiyear contract extension for Dusty May, who this season became the first basketball coach in school history to win his first 13 home games.

Michigan men's basketball and head coach Dusty May agreed to a muti-year contract extension according to the University. The extension came hours before the No. 12 Michigan Wolverines host rival No. 14 Michigan State Spartans in a big clash.

Emotions were high inside the Crisler Center Monday night as one of the more anticipated Michigan–Michigan State matchups occurred. Wolverines head coach Dusty May was getting his first taste of the rivalry with a ranked showdown.

May has previously only observed the rivalry from afar. He worked for the basketball team at fellow Big Ten school Indiana as a student and during his coaching career. The “intensity and passion” of Michigan-Michigan State was evident to him even through a TV screen.
