Bactrian camels make up only a small fraction of the world camel population—around 6 percent (or 2 million) as of today. But in the early '90s, the population and plight was far worse.

We often associate camels with two humps because dromedary camels account for about 94% of the world’s camel population, while Bactrian camels make up only about 6%.
