Statistics Canada’s latest estimates show that the country’s population grew by 1.8 per cent last year, reaching 41.5 million. In 2023, it grew a record 3.1 per cent, and in 2022, 2.5 per cent.
Over all, the Canadian population rose by around 744,000 people in 2024. At 1.8 per cent, the growth rate was higher than in any year between 1972 and 2021.
