New research from the Western Australia Museum shows the Dampier Archipelago near Karratha in the north-west of the state is as environmentally diverse as Queensland's Great Barrier Reef.

Off the coast of Western Australia lies the Dampier Archipelago, which for the last four years has been intensively investigated by marine biologists who haved described it as a "biological hotspot".
