All-electric motorsport took a giant leap into the future earlier this year, with Formula E unveiling it’s Batmobile-like Gen2 race car.

NIO unveiled its Gen-2 Formula-E car at a launch party in London. NIO announced its new partnership with data company Acronis that commences with Season 5.

There's no mention of changes to the Gen 2's powertrain. That means teams will stick with 250kW e-motors and a 52kWh battery pack, good for a 100km/h sprint of just 2.8 seconds.

Formula E will stop racing with the existing Spark-designed chassis that debuted in Season 1 in favour of the new 'Generation 2' car that has been compared to the fictional Batmobile due to its look.
