Larpool Lane cemetery in Whitby is part of £3m graveyard expansion plans on North Yorkshire's coast.

Workers were resurfacing the main drive of Larpool Lane cemetery in Whitby when the machine they were using jumped into gear and collided with the headstones.

North Yorkshire Council recently gave the green light to plans for the scheme in Whitby, including new traffic lights at the junction of the New Bridge, Spital Bridge, Helredale Road and Larpool Lane.
