MapQuest announced last week on X the company "still hadn't figured out" how to update its maps, but would allow users to rebrand the Gulf of Mexico on the website Gulfof.MapQuest.com.

For the record, MapQuest.com still lists it as the Gulf of Mexico, while Google and Apple Maps have changed it to the Gulf of America. People immediately got creative.

Google is among the first companies to rename maps from Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. Other software leaders, like Apple Maps, are starting to follow suit.

That means you can access Apple Maps in any browser, whether you’re on macOS or Windows. Previously, you were limited to the dedicated Apple Maps apps for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Now, the entirety of Apple Maps is available as a website, but it's in beta. The web version of Apple Maps is a simple clone of the mapping interface found on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
