CARBONDALE – The SIU Foundation hosted a dedication ceremony for the Mike Hanes Marching Salukis Band Tower at 4 p.m. Friday at Sam Rinella Field on East Campus.

The new Marching 110 Band Complex, featuring Hurley Field, will be along South Shafer Street adjacent to Ohio University’s Chessa Field soccer facility.

However, he was involved with the marching band until he passed in 2022. Construction of the tower was partially funded by a gift from SIU alumni Drs. Phil and Pam Pfeffer.
