A Cornell University student is on the verge of losing his student visa and being deported over taking part in a pro-Palestine protest. Mamadou Taal, a Ph.D student in Africana Studies, was suspended Monday by the university after he took part in a protest against a career fair attended by defense contractors L3Harris and Boeing last week.

Momodou Taal, who is attending the university with a F-1 visa, was suspended after a September 18 protest under a new policy seeking to quash Gaza solidarity actions.

Cornell University appears to be softening its position concerning an international student who allegedly caused such a fracas at an anti-Israel protest that he was suspended and told he would have to leave the country.

A British Cornell University grad student says he’s been suspended a second time for his activism and told by a university official he may need to “depart the U.S.”

The suspension comes after a demonstration disrupted a career fair on campus last week that featured weapons manufacturers Boeing and L3Harris.

The university said he and his fellow demonstrators were so loud, there were complaints of potential hearing loss.
