Texas colleges face uncertainty after ruling ends in-state tuition for students without legal status
In 2022, there were about 57,000 students without legal status enrolled in Texas colleges, according to a report from the President's Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration.
Hours after the DOJ filed the complaint, Texas officials agreed to comply with federal law and stop providing illegal immigrants with in-state tuition costs, The Texas Tribune reported.
