In the Silent Hill series, Pyramid Head’s sword is seen as a symbol of fear. While you’re hiding in the dark waiting for the area to be clear and you hear a certain sound, it chills to the bone.

As soon as the fight starts, Pyramid Head starts walking toward you, dragging his sword along with him. He may look slow now, but he's plenty fast - and seems to get faster as the fight goes on.
