DPS officials said a trooper made the arrest at a traffic stop in La Grange, Texas 65 miles southeast of Austin, adding there's no active threat remaining at this time.

Texas DPS said that as the investigation was underway, the suspect was found driving on SH-71 in Fayette County. Around 1:30 p.m., troopers stopped the suspect vehicle for speeding.

The protest, police say, began around 7 p.m. Monday near the Texas State Capitol, which is part of the Capitol Complex — a 46-square-block area of downtown Austin, which is protected by DPS.

DPS first alerted Capitol lawmakers and staffers of the “credible threat toward state legislators” attending Saturday's “No Kings” protest in an email just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

According to the governor's office, Abbott is deploying over 2,000 DPS troopers and 5,000 Texas National Guard soldiers.
