Frank M. “Rusty” Conner is the University of Virginia’s new vice rector. The university’s Board of Visitors elected Conner after a brief discussion behind closed doors Thursday afternoon.

Whittington W. Clement was first appointed to the board in 2015 by then-Gov. Terry McAuliffe and reappointed in 2019 by Gov. Ralph Northam, both Democrats.
