Google just made passwords redundant with this stunning Chrome passkeys announcement. Here’s what you need to know.

To make passkeys easier to use, Google is starting to sync them across Android and desktop devices, including Windows PCs. The change is coming to Google Password Manager, which previously could only store the passkeys on Android phones — not share them directly through any PCs you also happen to own.

Chrome is working to enhance security with biometric authentication for password autofill. Chrome currently overrides system-level settings to prioritize biometric ID verification. New Chrome flag in Canary ensures biometric ID is needed before password fill-ins.
