The southern row of counties are under an extreme cold watch for dangerously cold wind chills expected late Sunday to Wednesday morning. During that time period wind chills are expected to be as cold as 25 degrees below zero. This is the first issuance in Michigan of the new extreme cold watch.

(CBS DETROIT) — Dangerous cold will move through the Southeast Michigan region Monday through Wednesday next week. Cold Arctic air dives south this weekend, with temperatures falling into the teens on Sunday at the very start.

“Bitter cold temperatures and wind chills can result in hypothermia and frostbite within minutes,” NWS meteorologists said. “You can prepare now by making sure winter car survival kits are up to date and batteries are charged. When the cold arrives, limit time outdoors and check in on vulnerable neighbors."

A dangerously cold airmass from Siberia and the North Pole will be descending upon northeast Ohio next week thus an Extreme Cold Watch will be issued overnight Sunday through Wednesday morning.

With dangerously cold temperatures coming into the region next week, the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued an “extreme cold watch”. The watch begins Sunday night and runs through Tuesday morning.
