Volcanic hazards increased Thursday from the middle East Rift Zone eruption of Kilauea that began Sunday inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, according to the National Park Service.

The Big Island of Hawaii's Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve and the Captain's Trail are closed with Kilauea erupting.

Videos from the U.S. Geological Survey showed lava spewing from a fissure in the volcano, into the Nāpau Crater in the middle of the volcano's East Rift Zone.
