Just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning, a 2.0-magnitude earthquake rumbled about 6 miles off the coast of York Harbor, Maine, according to the United States Geological Survey.

YORK HARBOR, Maine — A third earthquake in a week was detected off the coast of New England Sunday morning. The United States Geological Survey confirmed a 2.0-magnitude earthquake centered southeast of York Harbor, Maine, just north of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, around 7:57 a.m.

A 2.0 magnitude earthquake occurred at 7:57 a.m. on Sunday off the coast of Maine, the third earthquake in the same area in the past week.

The 3.8-magnitude earthquake was centered about 10 kilometers southeast of York Harbor in Maine, officials said.

Just under a week after a brief earthquake gave the SouthCoast a jolt, another quake has hit — actually the third to hit in almost the same location.
